Youth Empowerment

This department caters for pre-teens and teens (12–19 years old). All programmes focus on leadership development that supports involvement in the community; discipleship and character building teaching and training; talent discovery and enhancement; and, life skills development that supports HIV prevention and care.

This is an evangelistic outreach programme for pre-teens and teens in and around the community of Maun. Sessions are held strategically every Friday from 1900hrs – 2030hrs. Weekly, an average of 100 – 250 young people attend Fire By Nite for an evening of fellowship, ministry, and fun through Christian teachings. These teachings help youth refrain from going out to drink alcohol, indulge in unprotected sex, drugs, crime, and other illicit behaviours that might attract them when they have nothing to do after school on weekends. Fire By Nite offers a healthy alternative to the nightlife of Maun.

Different avenues such as music, talent shows, fashion shows, games, movies, and inspirational Biblical teachings are used to minister to the youth. Young people from all different backgrounds attend, and many give their lives to Christ. Youth are provided with a safe and comfortable environment where they can interact with one another, and feel loved.

Reach 4 Life is a programme which promotes sexual abstinence before marriage and faithfulness in marriage. Reach 4 Life exists to radically reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS through behavioral change, leading youth to save sex for marriage. The programme recognises a pure life is accomplished through vibrant faith in God, grown by reading His Word, and also grasping and living it out.
Reach for life aims to raise godly leaders who are confident in God, who He has created them to be, and who will in turn go M.A.D (Make A Difference)!

Annually, a training camp, Camp P.U.R.E (Pursuing Uncompromised Righteousness Earnestly) is held for a selected number of students from each school. Through the camp, young people get to network with others, are inspired to become more confident in their decision to choose abstinence before marriage, are taught pertinent, relevant, and practical life skills, and counselled through issues both in groups and individually.

Currently, Reach 4 Life exists in 20 schools in Maun and surrounding areas; the programme has been active for 12 years and close to 50,000 lives have been reached and an equal number of young people have been reached through the programme and its curriculum.

Sports & Creative Arts aims to develop the creative expression of youth in the fields of singing, dancing, theatre, poetry, musical instruments, etc. The sports ministry aims to enhance the sporting abilities of the youth, while simultaneously reaching out to them with the Word of God. The Sports & Creative Arts programme works in partnership with the Ministry of Health under the Alcohol Levy Fund as part of the Family Strengthening Program.
The Sunday Discipleship is an extension of the various youth outreach programmes and activities. This Village Church programme is provided every Sunday so youth can delve further into what is taught in other outreach programmes. It is offered in a small group environment, fostering an interactive format.

Every Sunday the youth are a part of the main service for worship and prayer, then disperse into their age groups to be taught the Word effectively and relevantly in a setting appropriate for teens.

This is a gap year programme that caters for young people who have participated in the organisation’s youth empowerment programmes, and are senior school/Form V leavers who are either awaiting placement in tertiary, or who may still be undecided about career choice. The programme also exists to provide support to the Reach 4 Life programme and Reach 4 Life clubs.

Through the Daniel Internship Programme, interns are provided with opportunities to develop job and other life skills, and equips them with relevant trainings and opens awareness of a future life of ministry. During their internship, interns also get to attend Love Botswana Bible Institute.
